English ISU - Media Connection - Poem
"The Man he killed" by Thomas Hardy is another interesting connection to "The Sniper" because it is about killing a man you should have met, but you didn't, it is very inhumane because in the poem it says "I shot at him as he at me, and killed him in his place." and "just as I, was out of work, had sold his traps, no other reason why." I find that to be a connection because that is talking about how he just killed a man and took his belongings for extra money, he didn't care at all about how he had killed a man who may have a family, who may be family, he just did it to make some money. that point is some what opposite to the "The Sniper" because in the sniper Dublin seems very nervous and cautious about killing the man across the street, but at the same time he is being patient in order to get the kill. I chose that picture because it seems like the soldier is walking right by the dead soldier as if he doesn't evne care which relates to the poem.
